Officine Panerai has
roots dating back to 1860 when the company was founded in Florence,
Italy, by Giovanni Panerai. Panerai built its solid reputation on
supplying precision timekeeping instruments to the Italian navy and
developing waterproof watches for soldiers who found themselves in
extreme environments. More recently, the company moved its headquarters
to Neuchâtel, Switzerland, where they have been producing quality
in-house manufacture movements.
Panerai’s Table Clock, which is
reminiscent of a large pocket watch, elegantly incorporates the
manufacturer’s much-loved design principles and attention to detail that
can be found in their wristwatches.
The case of this intriguing table
clock measures 65 mm in diameter and is constructed of brushed and
polished stainless steel. A transparent case back allows one to see part
of the movement in action. This is a manually wound clock that is
driven by Panerai’s P.5000 caliber and beats at 21,600 vph, has 21
jewels, and features a convenient eight-day power reserve.
The tasteful, refined, and minimalist
black-colored dial—an iconic feature of Panerai watches, to be
sure—contains a mix of easy-to-read, luminescent Arabic numerals and
stick hour markers. The gold tone hands are also luminescent.
This Table Clock by Panerai will make a pleasant addition to any desk or mantel.
Standout features: Convenient eight-day power reserve; transparent case back that reveals the movement; special stainless steel table stand.
