Blancpain

Founder: The company was founded in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain.

Country: Switzerland

History: After a long period of bankruptcy the company re-emerged and introduced roller winding in the case which was brilliant at the time. In 1953, Blancpain’s watch called Fifty Fathoms was worn by Jacques Cousteau and bought by several nations for military use. Three years later, the smallest automatic movement in the world was made in the Ladybird model. Adding to this record collection, Blancpain made other advances in the field of watchmaking. To sum up their inventive greatness, in 1991 the watch Blancpain 1735 became the most complex watch ever made because it contained a tourbillon, minute repeater, perpetual calendar and split chronograph. Only 30 watches worldwide were made. Blancpain is widely known for continuously making “worlds first” models that push the limits of excellence and engineering.
